PAINTING ROAD STRIPS - HOW DOES IT GO? TYPES OF EQUIPMENT

Road traffic regulations clearly define the proper behaviour of drivers on public roads. Unfortunately, without proper vertical and horizontal marking, we would not be able to properly comply with the applicable road rules. For this reason, painting road lanes and other markings on various types of communication routes play such an important role. In today's article, we will check how exactly the painting of road markings is carried out, what equipment is used for this purpose and when this type of construction work is most often started.

WHAT IS ROAD MARKING?

Horizontal signs are road signs placed on the road surface in the form of lines, arrows, inscriptions and other symbols. They play a very important role because, in the absence of appropriate vertical marking, they determine the order in road traffic on a given section. Thus, both marking and painting the road lanes is a highly demanding and responsible task. It should also be added that level marking is not only continuous or broken lines visible on public roads but also pedestrian crossings, marking parking spaces in housing estates or shop parking lots.

WHICH PAINT IS USED ON THE ROAD STRIPES?

Road marking should be durable and resistant to abrasion and difficult weather conditions. Therefore, for this purpose, special paints are used, the composition of which depends on the thickness of the layer. In the case of thin-film belts, one-component acrylic solvent paints are used (approx. 25% solvent content). Highways impose much greater operational requirements. There, special chemically hardening paints are used.
